Our Story
Back to basics originated from the wish of many people to join the Strummin’ cast of guitarists without knowing how to play the guitar. The intention of the project was to provide a course and resources for these individuals to learn how to play the guitar in time to join the main cast for the annual concert. The project evolved into a more formal training course as the material was getting developed.
WHO WE ARE
Back to Basics takes aspiring guitarists through the basics of learning how to play the guitar and get acquainted with this wonderful and versatile instrument. It does not assume any prior knowledge. The aim of the project is to provide the opportunity for people to learn this instrument. To support and encourage, whilst making easy to follow material and resources. The project is led by a team of instructors who have experience in leading groups of guitarists to train for the annual concert Strummin’. Back to Basics is a project by Strummin’ Foundation. As a foundation, we seek to provide opportunities for collaboration and education through music.
WHAT WE DO
Over the past years the Back to Basics team has focused on guitar courses that are hosted in person. These lessons have taken children and adults from Malta through a 10-week programme to learn the basics of Strummin. Through this online course we are collating and presenting our teaching resources in digital form, whilst still keeping the important idea of community through our Facebook groups.
